What is Ceff?

Ceff works by interfering with the formations of bacteria’s cell walls and causing it to rupture and killing the bacteria that is causing infections. The active ingredient cephalexin monohydrate is considered a cephalosporin antibiotics type of medication. The medication can be used to treat bacterial infections to the bones or joints, skin, ears, urinary tract and the upper respiratory tract. Some people with certain heart conditions may also use it prior to dental procedures to prevent serious infections of the heart.

How is Ceff used?

Ceff should be taken orally exactly as directed by a doctor, usually every 6 to 12 hours. The capsules should be taken with a full glass of water but can be taken with or without food. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the medication until you finish the full course of treatment, even if symptoms look completely healed, as stopping the treatment abruptly may cause a relapse in the infection and allow the bacteria to become the immune to the antibiotics.

Adverse effects

Ceff may cause unwanted side effects such as:

  • Oral thrush or yeast infection
  • Headaches
  • Upset stomach
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:

  • Joint pain
  • Mental or mood changes
  • Decreased urination
  • Easy bleeding or bruising
  • Jaundice
  • Seizures
  • Trouble breathing or swallowing

Warnings

The medication can be used to treat bacterial infections but should not be used to treat viral infections such as the flu or common cold.

Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.

Ceff is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.

The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed.
